There are countless ways for Whatcom students to actively engage in the life of the College.
- ASWCC Council of Representatives
(Student Leadership)
You may decide to serve as part of the Whatcom's student leadership, serving on behalf of the student population. ASWCC Reps gain valuable leadership experience as they lend to college decision making, affect change through the Washington State Legislature, develop a budget for use of the Services and Activities Fees, and sets direction for student-led initiatives. - Athletics
WCC engages in intercollegiate sports competition for both men and women. The athletics program provides opportunities for students to develop teamwork, self-discipline and leadership skills. The WCC Pavilion provides a home for the Orcas men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. Orca Field, a lighted, state-of-the-art synthetic turf facility, is home for the men's and women's soccer teams. - Clubs
There is a whole host of student clubs on Whatcom's campus. Whether you have interests in sustainability, drama or making international friends, there is something for everyone. - Student Activities
The Activities Program is a great way to get involved in campus life by providing recreational and educational activities for WCC students. Any student interested can become a part of this committee or provide input on programming such as: films, music, contests, speakers, field trips, ski van to Mt. Baker, hikes, concerts, bowling, and more. Intramural sports at Whatcom are also coordinated through Student Activities, offering competitive and recreational opportunities, such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, and soccer. - Horizon, The Student Newspaper
Horizon, the WCC student newspaper, is published throughout the school year. Students interested in journalistic writing or photography may find a good fit here. Staff positions include editor, production manager, photo editor, and marketing manager.
The Orca Card
Every new and current WCC student is issued an Orca Card. It's the way to pay for everything you need. ORCA Cash is a convenient, cashless way to pay on and off campus.
The Orca Card not only acts like a debit card, but also serves as the official student and staff ID. It can be used for:
- Vending machines
- Campus printers and copy machines
- The campus bookstore
- The Dockside Café and its satellite coffee stands
- Checking out library books and paying fines
- Attending sporting and other events at Whatcom Community College
- And more!
